Section Two - Reporting Spam
One of the most effective things a person can do about spam is to notify the appropriate service providers that it was sent. Most providers have "abuse" policies that prohibit the sending of unsolicited commercial email, and are often willing to shut a spammer's service off if they are found to be wasting resources in that way. The most important first step in this is finding out who the correct people to contact are.

Complaining directly to the sender of the spam is at best useless, and at worst lets them know you have a valid address they can add to their various lists. You need to complain to the service provider they are sending through, as those are the people who can stop them. This will require you to examine the headers of the spam email.
