Section Two - Spam Blocking Through Mailservers
As mentioned, another way spam levels are kept as low as possible is through the use of various blocking services within the receiving mailservers. This is usually done by subscribing to various lists of mailservers maintained by anti-spam organizations. These lists can include confirmed spammers or open relays, and can be maintained in DNS information, distributed databases, or a number of other options. Domains are added to the list based on spam complaints and information regarding the mailserver configuration, and can be removed if the problem that resulted in the server being listed is resolved and the managers of the list are informed of this.

EasyDNS makes use of a number of such services, a list of which are available within our anti-spam help pages. This greatly reduces the volume of spam we have to deal with, and is essential to maintaining the high performance level of our services. We do recognise however that there are certain circumstances where an email server might get mistakenly added to a list and legitimate email be refused on that basis.

If your mailserver is being rejected by our mailservers, we are probably the least of your problems. If we are rejecting your email then a lot of other places are too and this will not fix itself or lessen over time. There are ways to get unblocked from every list we use. Your first priority should be to secure your mailserver against open relays, bring your DNS into compliance and get rid of any spammers you may be providing services to. Once this is done, you will need to look at the headers of the email and see what list the email refusal is based on. Looking to the website for that group will provide you with information on how to contact them and get removed from the list.

Naturally if you are using a third party's email service you will not be able to do this yourself. You will need to contact your email provider and inform them that your email is being blocked for this reason and have them resolve the blocking issue. They should be both able and willing to do this, since if their mailservers are being blocked that will affect their business considerably.
