Secondary DNS is a service for clients who manage domains on other nameservers (either their own nameservers, a webhost's nameservers, etc), but are looking for added reliability and backup to keep their domain name, website, and email online in the event their main (primary) nameservers are not reachable or available. With Secondary DNS service you do not configure your DNS records using easyDNS's usual management interface, instead you provide our system with the IP address of your primary nameserver and our system copies your domain's zonefile to our network of nameservers, which then acts as backup for your primary.

Secondary DNS is useful only to those clients who manage their own primary nameserver, as it does not include any way to create the essential records for the function of a domain. The records have to be set up properly on a primary nameserver and copied as-is to our cluster of nameservers.
