Once the application is received by CIRA and deemed to be complete and valid, an email is sent to the admin contact. This will contain a link to the CIRA confirmation page as well as a temporary account ID and password. The admin contact will need to visit this link within 7 days and login with the information provided to confirm the registration. There are 4 stages to the confirmation of the registration with CIRA.

1)Verify the information provided on the application. Here the webpage will show you the information on the application, asking you to confirm that it is correct.

2)Agree to the Registrant Agreement and CIRA Policies. The registrant agreement constitutes the legal agreement and rules and policies governing the .ca domain name. The admin contact must indicate that he or she has read and agrees to it.

3)Confirming CIRA membership. This section defaults to what you indicated in the original application, and asks you to select whether to become a CIRA member or not.

4)Final confirmation. You are asked to confirm that you are of legal age to enter a contract for the registration of the domain name, and that the information presented listing the choices regarding the registration are what you intended. Clicking "Confirm" at this point is the equivalent of signing the contract and the domain is registered.

Once this has been done the domain is registered and will propagate through the internet within the space of a few hours. The admin contact will receive a final email from CIRA, giving a new account ID and password, this time permanent, to be used in confirming any changes to critical information made in the future. The information in this email is important and should be kept, as it will be needed when changes to the whois record are made, as well as for transfers of registrar or ownership.
