Due to the prevalence of Viruses and Worms spreading themselves through email, many ISPs have begun blocking port 25 as a security measure. This can make it problematic for clients running their mailservers on these connections, due to the fact that DNS records cannot include a port number and only point to the IP, assuming the standard port#. Because of this we need to use a forwarding arrangement to get around the blocking, and this can only be done if your domain is on DNS-plus service.

After you upgrade the service level to DNS Plus you will discover an "email" link next to your domain name. Please select that email link and delete the default mail map that will have been created.

Assuming that your domain is on DNS-plus, to point to a mailserver on a non-standard port, in the "MX record" section where your domain name is in the zone field, set handled by host to your mailserver hostname: port#, eg. mail.easydns-demo.com:2525. Set the pref to any number greater than 5 and click "next" until it changes to done, and then click done to confirm the changes.

If you currently use just the domain name, like easydns-demo.com, as the mailserver you will need to change that to a specific host of the domain. You will want to update either the specific mailhost or enable the wildcard host. If you have trouble doing this you may want to contact support for assistance.

To do this you may need to set Style of MX Handlers Box to advanced mode. If you see the MX record represented without fields labeled "Zone" and "Handled by server", please select the "e" in the top right corner of your domain s settings module and set Style of MX Handlers Box to advanced.

That is the same whether you update the wildcard or mailhost specifically, since mail.example.com will resolve through *.example.com as well.

Please do not specify easyDNS as a backup mailserver. When you port forward a mailserver, easyDNS is automatically set up as a primary back up.
