Section 02 • How to set up email forwarding through easyDNS

The first important issue in setting up email forwarding is to make sure your domain's MX record is pointed to our mailserver. The MX record is the record which tells the world what mailserver is responsible for the domain name, and it is managed through the "dns" link beside your domain name on the members page.

You will need to make sure that the MX record shows your domain name in the "zone" field and "smtp.easydns.com" in the "handled by server" field. If it does not, you will need to correct that and click "Next" at the bottom of the page to commit the changes. This change will propagate through the internet in approximately 3 hours.

If you are using catch-all email forwarding through our Domain Name and Parking service, you will not be able to check the MX, since control over DNS records is not part of that service. The MX record pointing to our mailserver is set up by default in those cases. Clients with parked domains through us do not have to worry about this step as it has been done for them already.
