Section Two • The default mailmap

The next main component of email forwarding is the default mailmap. This functions in the same way as the default forwarding we discussed earlier with DNS-only service. All you need to do to create that forwarding is enter the desired destination address in the text field provided in the Default Mailmap section.

With that record in place, any email which is sent to an address at your domain name which is not specified in a mailmap will arrive at the address specified. It is also sometimes called "catch-all" forwarding, since it catches any email sent to the domain which is not being directed elsewhere.
