Software Configuration

The next step in the process requires you to configure the dynamic DNS update client to connect to your account and update your domain name. This process varies depending on which dynamic dns client you are using and instructions for each will be provided in separate tutorials. Links to each tutorial are provided on the main tutorials page.

However, there are some common elements to each client which we will now discuss.

Most clients you download through our webpage will have a drop down menu to select what "service" you are using. That is a way of asking which company is providing your DNS service, and you will want that to be set to easyDNS so that the program will know what servers to connect to. It will also ask you for a username and password, and you will need to provide the information you use to login to the easyDNS members page.

The way you specify what host to update varies from program to program. For most applications you will just want to specify your domain name as a host, if the program has both "host" and "domain name" fields leave "host" blank. You will also want to make sure the "wildcard" option is enabled. If you have trouble with this please email our support staff.
