With a few differences, dynamic DNS uses the same basic system for pointing the domain to an IP address as standard DNS with a static IP. The differences are a result of the IP address changing from time to time.

Again, the main differences are:

1) How often an IP address is updated
2) How the IP gets updated
3) And the speed at which the new address is communicated to the rest of the internet.
