Enabling Server Monitoring on your Domains

Introduction
Server monitoring is now included in all DNS-Plus service packages and provides a simple, easy-to-use mechanism to check the uptime and network availability of the hosts within your domain and alert you via email if a problem is found.

Enabling your domain for server monitoring
Getting up and running using server monitoring is a simple 3-step process:
  1. Access your domain and dns options

and set Host Monitoring to "enabled"

  2. Activate an individual host record for monitoring

  3. Select which services to monitor

How Server Monitoring Works
  • Our system checks the services you select for your domain every 5 minutes

  • To guard against false postives, the system checks its results against 5 separate monitoring nodes deployed alongside our global nameserver cluster

  • Failure conditions are emailed to one of:
    1. Your alert email address, as set in your account preferences

    2. Your main member account email if no "alert email" is set.

  • Failure conditions will also display in the DNS settings module for your domain

  • Follow-up alert messages are sent every hour for persistant failure conditions.

  • A final alert is sent when the system returns to a normal status
