(if your provider firewalls port 80)

If you want to map a domain name (or a specific host within a domain) to a server that does not have a static IP address (i.e. some DSL and cable modem users) you may now use third party dynamic DNS software to automatically update your IP address when it changes.

The following client software has support for easyDNS dynamic dns built-in.

Linux/Unix

ez-ipupdate (Opensource, GPL)

Freshports p5-DNS-EasyDNS 0.04

Windows 95/98/2K

DynSite for Windows (Shareware)
If the version you download does not have an option for easyDNS, then either:
• run the Help > Check for Upgrade option from the DynSite main menu or
•  copy this file into a text file called "easyDNS.dns" and put it in the local folder on your hard drive where you installed DynSite and then restart it.

Dynamic DNS Client
This client runs as a windows service and is available as a 15 day trial before purchase, or a "lite" freeware version, requires Windows 95 or higher.

myDynamicIP

This is a perl client developed on Mac OS X, it will probably also run on any O/S which can run perl (i.e. Unix & Linux)

DNSUpdate for Mac OS X
This is an update client designed specificly for MacOS X.

OS Independent

JS-Client (JavaScript) (Freeware)
Difficulties in downloading may be exerienced using Netscape 7
Unfortunately running this client through through Internet Explorer is problematic due to problems with how that browser handles cookies and secure logins.

DNS-EasyDNS
A perl module (DNS::EasyDNS) to update your dynamic DNS entries on easyDNS.

Note: None of the above software is published by easyDNS so, apart from having tested it ourselves or having received reports from users that it works, easyDNS makes no representations or claims with respect to the software. If you choose to use one of the "shareware" or "trialware" products, you are responsible for paying any registry fees to the publisher directly. Your easyDNS fees do not include registry fees for the software.

Dynamic Update Specs

For those clients experienced at coding who wish to script their own update routines our, dynamic update specs are available.

This option is normally disabled by default. To enable this option for your domains, click on the "view or edit domain and dns display options" link in the account management module on your easyDNS members' page.

Set the "Dynamic DNS option enabled for my domains" to on and then click on the "done" button.

At this point you will now have an additional item underneath each domain on your domain list. You click on this link to turn dynamic DNS on or off for a given domain.

You should read the information on the next page if you are doing this for the first time. This page also contains links to the currently supported third party dynamic dns client software. Then you simply submit the form at the bottom of the page to toggle the setting for this domain (if dynamic dns is enabled for this domain, it will be disabled, and vice-versa)
