The .BIZ Top Level Domain will be fully implemented by Fall 2001.
What follows is an explanation of how to pre-register .BIZ domain names
and how the whole process works.

by the operators of the new .BIZ registry, and not set by

Preregistering .BIZ Domain Names
The .BIZ preregistration period is in effect until Sept 25th, 2001. During this phase, you can pre-register names by purchasing the equivalent of lottery tickets for any .BIZ domain name you want. However, this does not guarantee that you will get the name you choose.
The winning ticket will be selected at random (on or around October 1, 2001) from all of the pre-registrations for a given .BIZ domain name. In other words, by pre-registering a particular .BIZ domain name, you are buying the chance to be awarded the domain name. The more pre-registrations/tickets you buy, the better your chances to be awarded the name, but there are no guarantees. That is why we say it is like a lottery, and we don't want to belabor the point, but we want it to be as clear as possible.
How many can I buy and how much are they?
You can purchase as many tickets/pre-registrations for a given .BIZ name as you like, and you can pre-register as many different .BIZ domain names as you like. There is no limit. To make things easy, we have setup the purchase process to allow you to purchase 1,3,5,10,25,50, or 100 tickets at one time, for up to 5 different .BIZ names.

Important: Fees paid to pre-register for a domain DO NOT cover actual domain fees upon being awarded the domain. Fees paid to pre-register a domain are non-refundable in the event that the applicant is not awarded the domain.
Pre-registrations will be filed once payment has been received. There are no refunds and please note that the amounts shown above are for the pre-registrations/tickets only and do not include the actual registry fees for .BIZ domain names which will be due if/once you are awarded the domain name. Registry fees are an additional $25/year with an initial minimum term of 2 years (not our rule) and if you select a service package from easyDNS then your invoice will also include the cost of DNS or DNS-Plus service.
What happens if there is an IP claim?
If someone/some company has files an IP claim for a specific domain name, it means that they believe they have a legitimate trademark or copyright claim to the domain name. If someone has files an IP claim for a .BIZ name that you pre-register you will find out only after you have pre-registered. You will be notified that there is an IP claim for the name and you be asked to acknowledge that you are aware of this claim (or claims). Unfortunately, there are no refunds if it turns out that you pre-registered for a .BIZ domain name for which someone has files an IP claim. Please note that this is not our rule.
What Happens If I Win?
If your are awarded the .BIZ name then you will be notified via email and may proceed to do the happy dance for as long as you like. You will then receive an invoice from us for the registry fees for the domain name (for a minimum of 2 years) and any additional service you have selected from easyDNS.
